Modesto police are in search of three suspects following a traumatic home invasion that occurred on Tuesday morning. Three men, said to be dressed in construction-style attire, broke into a residence in the vicinity of McClure Road and Clogston Way. According to the Modesto Police Department, the situation was urgently reported by a 13-year-old who was at home taking care of a younger sibling. The distressing event unfolded around 8 a.m., with the teen initiating the 911 call during the actual home invasion before finding a place to hide with the sibling, ABC 10 reported.
Detailed accounts from the homeowner highlight an even more harrowing experience for the children, as surveillance footage captured a man forcefully breaking the front door open. The homeowner revealed to KCRA 3 that the intruders quickly located and held the teenager at gunpoint, demanding to know where the safe was. It was during this time that the suspects were made aware that the teenager was speaking to 911, prompting them to hastily leave, not before taking some 49ers jackets and Nike shoes.
The police have confirmed the safety of both children and have reassured the community that this appears to be an isolated incident. As of now, it remains unclear why the home was targeted, and no information has been released regarding items taken besides the sports memorabilia and footwear. Nevertheless, the investigation into the home invasion and the search for the suspects continue, as per ABC 10.
Authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance. The Modesto Police Department is requesting that anyone with information regarding this crime come forward to help. The community's help may prove crucial to quickly apprehend the suspects involved in this alarming occurrence.
