Montgomery County detectives are turning to the community for help following an armed robbery at a Shell gas station in Bethesda, as reported by the Montgomery County Department of Police. The Major Crimes Division has released a surveillance video of the suspect in a bid to identify him after the incident, which took place on the evening of July 30.
Responding to a 911 call around 11:33 p.m., officers rushed to the scene at 10200 block of Westlake Drive. Initially entering the premise under the guise of needing the restroom, the suspect later threatened an employee with a knife. After grabbing merchandise and stowing it away in his backpack, the suspect fled.
The current investigation has yielded some details about the suspect's appearance from surveillance footage. He is a Black male, believed to be about 26-years-old, with a goatee and a medium build. His height is estimated at 5-feet, 6-inches. At the time of the robbery, he donned a black/camouflage cap, a black t-shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes, complemented by a black/camouflage backpack.
The department, in their continued efforts to make an arrest, reaches out for public assistance. Anyone with information related to the suspect or the robbery is urged to get in touch. Wearing a black camouflaged backpack, the detectives ask individuals who can identify the man in the video or has knowledge of the incident to contact them.
