A Montgomery County woman is facing scrutiny after at least seven dead dogs were found at two different locations around her home, sparking outrage and bewilderment amongst locals. As reported by FOX 26 Houston, neighbors alerted authorities when they discovered the deceased animals — at least some of which the woman had taken in to foster.

Alexandra Bravo, 26, was arrested on unrelated charges to appear lies about the alleged cruelty. Bravo is held on a $1,500 bond for running a red light and driving without a license, according to information from The Houston Chronicle. The charges of animal cruelty, however, were accepted by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office post her arrest.

Authorities and residents are now grappling with the aftermath of the discovery. "As a rescuer ourselves, we would never ever dream of anything like this. This is absolutely horrifying," Melanie Jackson told FOX 26 Houston. Images and recounts of dog bones and remains in the kennels have distressed the local community further. "I heard a lot of moaning and loud barking back in March," said neighbor Traci Ruzicka to FOX 26 Houston, "Unfortunately, I ignored it. I should have called animal control or something."

Bond conditions set by Associate Judge Jacqueline Bello for Bravo include no alcohol or drugs, and a prohibition from owning or being around any animals. With an additional bond of $1,500 set specifically for the animal cruelty charges. Bravo has declined a court-appointed attorney, expressing intentions to hire her legal representation. The Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constable's Office continues its thorough investigation.
