Commuters in Monticello, prepare for a slight detour in your evening travels. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced several upcoming overnight closures of the Hwy. 25 bridge over the Mississippi River. The closures are scheduled to start at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, and will continue on Thursday, Aug. 15, then again on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and Wednesday, Aug. 21, as reported by Wright County Minnesota. The bridge will reopen the following mornings, affecting only those who travel by night.
These necessary disruptions, which depend greatly on the temperament of the weather, come so that the contractor can repave the southbound lanes—a precursor to tackling the northbound side. While closing the bridge may cause inconvenience to some, it is a step imperative for the thoroughfare’s longevity and safety. Travelers are directed to the primary detour route along Hwy. 10, crossing near Elk River, as per Wright County Minnesota.
For those who want to stay informed and plan, MnDOT recommends keeping an eye on the project website for the latest updates and detailed information on the project’s progress.
