
A serious collision in Ionia County has left a motorcyclist with critical injuries after being struck by a car yesterday afternoon, authorities say. The FOX 17 report indicates the accident occurred at the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Nash Highway around 4 p.m.
Details provided by Michigan State Police to WOODTV, explain that as the motorcyclist headed east, the driver of a westbound vehicle failed to perceive their presence and turned south, directly cutting into the motorcycle's trajectory. The injured motorcyclist was then airlifted to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.
WZZM 13 notes that the car's driver did not sustain injuries in the incident. Following the crash, local authorities advised drivers to seek alternative routes as the Michigan State Police conducted investigations and cleared the area.
The condition of the motorcyclist remains critical, and the official reports have not yet released any further details about their identity. The road, which had been closed for approximately three hours to allow for investigative and cleanup efforts, has since been reopened according to information from MSP.
