A man lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Tuscarawas County last Saturday night, as reported by Cleveland 19. When the incident occurred, Trevor E. Berndt, 33, from Newcomerstown, was riding southbound on a 2007 Harley Davidson Road King along County Road 29, also known as Edwards Ridge Road.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol disclosed that Berndt encountered a curve near the intersection with Crooked Creek Road, lost control of the motorcycle, and subsequently overturned and slid off the left side of the road. According to a statement obtained by WKYC, a collision with a guardrail was the fatal consequence.
The crash happened close to 11:30 p.m., and Berndt was declared dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner's Office, as per information from the Canton Repository. At the time of the accident, Berndt was not wearing a helmet, an often critical piece of protective gear that may play a role in the severity of injuries sustained in such crashes.
While the circumstances leading to the tragic outcome remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the agencies, including Uhrichsville EMS, Rush Township Fire Department, and Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office, also responded and provided assistance at the scene along with Finlayson Towing, the patrol was assisted at the scene by several entities including Uhrichsville EMS, Rush Township Fire Department, and Finlayson Towing, providing insight into the collaborative nature of emergency response efforts in the face of road tragedies.
