Mount Oliver is grappling with another act of gun violence after a man was fatally shot inside his own home on Saturday. According to CBS Pittsburgh, first responders discovered 49-year-old Dana Burks deceased in the doorway of his residence, located on the 100 block of Amanda Avenue. As per the release issued by the Allegheny County Police, the call to authorities came in around 12:30 p.m.
An arrest warrant was issued for 21-year-old Rasheed Horne in connection with the killing, and according to WPXI, Horne turned himself in early Sunday morning. He remains in custody at the Allegheny County Jail awaiting his arraignment on a homicide charge. Burks' neighbor recalled the moment, saying she heard two gunshots and another resident commented on the frequency of shootings in the area.
Burks has been described as a loving family man by his wife, and he recently welcomed a baby, who is not even two years old yet. Burks' cousin, Jarado Granberry, expressed disbelief struggling to understand what might have prompted such a heinous act. Granberry reminisced about the times Burks helped him with family matters, indicating the depth of their familial connection.
