The Metropolitan Police Department has recently reported the arrest of two individuals in Southeast D.C. for numerous firearm-related offenses. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the arrests occurred early in the morning on Wednesday, when MPD officers, who were part of Operation ATLAS, discovered two firearms.
Officers made the arrests around 1:49 a.m. in a 3300 block of 10th Place, Southeast. The suspects have been identified as 25-year-old Labrons Butler, who is reportedly of no fixed address, and 23-year-old Melvin Tolar Jr. from Northeast, D.C. Both men face several charges, including Carrying a Pistol Without a License-Outside Home/Business and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Along with these, they are also charged with Possession of Unregistered Ammunition and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm/Unlawful Possession of a Firearm or Destructive Device, as well as Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.
Additionally, Melvin Tolar Jr. has been charged with an outstanding Bench Warrant. As law enforcement continues to crack down on illegal firearms in the city, Operation ATLAS, which aims to reduce gun violence by proactively removing illegal weapons from the streets, can mark these arrests as part of its ongoing efforts.
