The Metropolitan Police Department is on the lookout for a suspected thief following a recent robbery in Northwest D.C. The incident, which was brought to public attention and took place on the 1000 block of U Street on the night of July 16, according to the MPD's report.

According to the MPD's report, at around 10:35 p.m., an unnamed suspect allegedly snatched a cellphone right from the hands of the victim before fleeing the area. Now, authorities are extending a call to the community, hoping for assistance in identifying the individual responsible.

As per the MPD's website, it is urging anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery to exercise caution and refrain from approaching the suspect. Instead, they are asking potential witnesses to reach out by calling (202) 727-9099 or to send a tip via text to the department's dedicated text TIP LINE at 50411. Consistent with its standard policy, the department is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the perpetrator of this crime in the District of Columbia.
