A high-speed pursuit that initiated in Shiawassee County led to a dangerous multi-vehicle crash in Flint Township. According to ABC12, the chase began before 4 p.m. involving a suspect wanted for multiple felonies. The individual allegedly rammed into several patrol cars in an attempt to evade capture.
The pursuit rapidly moved east toward Genesee County, with the suspect driving recklessly at high speeds, forcing police to call off the chase in Clayton Township for public safety concerns. Continuing to disregard the law's bounds, as reported by the Flint Township Police Department's Facebook post, the suspect barreled down Corunna Road, creating havoc at the Corunna and Dutcher roads intersection. In his escape, several vehicles were struck, resulting in various minor injuries.
The aftermath of the crash saw the suspect abandon his vehicle, fleeing on foot into an adjacent wooded area. Offering their expertise, the Michigan State Police and Flint Township police, alongside K-9 units, swiftly apprehended the fleeing man. "The Michigan State Police and Flint Township Officers quickly located him with the assistance of a K9 and he was taken into custody," recounted the Flint Township Police Department.
The injuries sustained were minor. The suspect, whose identity was withheld pending charges, has been turned over to Shiawassee County authorities to confront charges related to the initial warrants and the ensuing chase, informed ABC12. The charges for the crash and reckless driving in Genesee County, however, remain unspecified at the current juncture by Flint Township police.
