A serious collision involving multiple vehicles disrupted the relative quiet of Route 100 near Arundel Mills Boulevard. An eastbound journey ended in chaos and twisted metal as a 2024 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 28-year-old Beltsville man, inadvertently traveled into the opposing traffic lane, catalyzing a sequence of collisions that now leaves several individuals with injuries of varying severity. The Anne Arundel County Police Department promptly issued a detailed account of the incident, ensuring that public awareness would hopefully help to both prevent future mishaps and aid in the forthcoming investigation.
According to the police press release, the crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. and saw not only the Corolla but also a 2014 Nissan Murano, a 2014 Toyota Camry, and a 2024 Nissan Altima caught in the violent ballet. Responders from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department worked diligently to extricate and transport injured parties to the nearest medical facilities: The Corolla and Murano drivers with suspected serious injuries and the Camry driver with injuries believed to be minor.
While the scene has since been cleared and the ribbons of Route 100 reopened, the Anne Arundel Police Department's Traffic Safety Section has taken up the mantle to probe deeper into the incident's cause.
As for those caught in the sudden terror of conjoining steel, the 57-year-old male driver of the Murano from Bowie, Maryland, and the 26-year-old driver of the Camry from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, have both had their lives now irreversibly entwined with that of the Corolla's driver. Though less hurt, the occupants of the Altima, a 42-year-old Baltimore woman and a 20-year-old male passenger, were not unscathed, with the former treated at the scene and the latter walking away unharmed.
