Authorities in New Bedford have made an arrest in the fatal shooting that occurred earlier this month. Anthony Jalo, a 21-year-old local, was taken into custody on the morning of August 15th without incident, and is facing a murder charge, Boston 25 News reports.
On August 4th, just before the milestones of dawn, at approximately 1:30 a.m., New Bedford officers arrived at Earle Street after receiving reports of gunshots. There, they discovered 44-year-old Aaron Britto with multiple injuries, lying at an interstice between the back of Morna Lounge and, a nearby residence. He was swiftly transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital but was ultimately pronounced dead, according to information from the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.
The loss of Britto prompted a consequential inquiry which subsequently pointed to Jalo as the prime suspect in the case. The details that knit the fabric of the case together remain held close by authorities, who are continuing the investigation into the shooting, as The Boston Globe notes. Jalo's arraignment was scheduled to take place at the New Bedford District Court.
