If you're planning to get your fitness on at Das Rec this September, you'll need to tweak your schedule. The New Braunfels community center is changing up its Sunday hours for the entire month to make room for some annual maintenance. Instead of shutting down completely for days on end like it has in the past, Das Rec is just going to send you home a little early on these particular days.
According to an announcement on the city's website, Das Rec aims to "ensure Das Rec continues to meet and exceed expectations for the community in New Braunfels." So they're going to call it a day at 2 PM each Sunday in September. That means whether you're in it for a game of hoops, a run on the treadmill, or some quality time with free weights, you've got until the clock strikes 2 to wrap it up.
And if you're a swimmer, take note: both pools at Das Rec will be out of commission all day Saturday, September 7 through Monday, September 9. The days are blocked off to let all the pool chemicals balance out without an audience. But don't worry, you can still hit the gym, attend classes, or shoot hoops – the rest of the facility will keep running as usual during this time.
So, for those who mark their calendars, here's the lowdown: Das Rec will have an early closure at 2 PM on September 8, 15, 22, and 29. Adjust your workout schedule accordingly and remember, it's all in the name of keeping the joint a top-notch spot for fun, fitness, and smiles in the community.
