The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles' License and Theft Bureau has added eleven new inspectors to combat vehicle-related crimes. They recently completed their training in the 30th Basic Inspector Class at the DMV Headquarters in Rocky Mount. Their duties include addressing vehicle theft, title fraud, driver's license and ID card manipulation, and odometer tampering, as reported by the NCDOT.

As detailed in the NCDOT's press release, at the ceremony, N.C. Appeals Court Judge Donna Stroud praised the new inspectors, saying, "As a judge, I rely on and get to see the hard work and devotion of so many people, and many of those are law enforcement officers like you." She expressed confidence in their continued excellence and integrity, which she has seen in their previous roles. The eleven new inspectors are Jeffrey Boykin, Phillip Broughton, Travis Denny, Johnathan Fields, Cheryl Larson, Rickita Mays, Colby McClain, Bryan McCullers, Thomas Vesce, Michael Walker, and Richard Whitlow.

The new inspectors will join the existing team of 146 across North Carolina, enforcing policies at vehicle dealers, safety and emissions stations, tow and storage facilities, and repair shops. Since its establishment in 1921, the License and Theft Bureau has maintained a long tradition of law enforcement. With these new inspectors, North Carolina aims to strengthen its efforts against vehicle fraud and theft, ensuring continued stability and protection for vehicle owners.
