Roswell residents can eagerly anticipate the development of a new hub for dining and leisure as the city council has recently green-lit the creation of a "Crabapple Road Restaurant District." Located at the intersection of Crabapple Road and Crossville Road, the district aims to transform an existing office park into a sociable space where locals and visitors alike can enjoy meals, shops, and communal greenery. The district also comes with the perk of allowing visitors to openly carry alcoholic beverages within the designated area, a liberty similar to the one enjoyed in the existing Canton Street district.

As reported by Roswell Connections, Mayor Kurt Wilson expressed his excitement about the project, citing the success of Canton Street in driving development and attracting resident interest. His enthusiasm suggests that the council plans to cautiously repeat this model to invigorate other parts of the city. The site in question currently holds office buildings from the late '80s, but if everything goes right, these will soon give way to family-friendly eateries and a mix of retail and office spaces.

Providing more specifics, WSB-TV details that the plans involve replacing a parking lot with synthetic turf to create a central green area of 7,500 square feet for the district. Dan Marinko, Vice President of Operations for Partners Development Group, mentioned to WSB-TV his team's vision to establish a vibrant destination that marries the convenience of indoor-dining and retail with the charm of outdoor experiences centered around this green space.

Roswell City Council member Christine Hall shared with WSB-TV her anticipation for the project, highlighting the potential for it to become a new economic driver within Roswell. “It is just another area that we’re looking at expanding the economic opportunities in Roswell,” she said. Construction is anticipated to commence this fall with hopes for the district to start operating by late spring or early summer of 2025. In the interim, Roswell's residents can start to imagine how to better diversify their dining and social options, continuing to establish the city as a prime suburban outpost for gastronomy and conviviality.
