The NoMa neighborhood of Northeast DC was rattled early Saturday by a quadruple shooting that left two men dead and two others injured. The Metropolitan Police Department responded after 1 a.m. to the unit block of M Street NE, where they discovered the four victims, as reported by WJLA. Pronounced dead at the scene were 33-year-old Antonio Williams of Capitol Heights, Md., and 18-year-old Terrell Osbourne Jr. of Northwest D.C.
Some nearby residents, awakened by the sound of gunfire, initially mistook the shots for fireworks, a detail highlighted in an interview with a local resident obtained by NBC Washington. The violence has left the community questioning the safety of their neighborhood, with several people observing police with large weapons. This has led some to reconsider their decision to live there.
In addition to the two slain men, a man and a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at local hospitals. Late Saturday, images were released by police of a car, possibly a 2019 white Honda Accord, believed to be carrying the suspects, according to FOX 5 DC.
A visitor to the area recounted the abrupt disturbance turned tragic incident, telling FOX 5 DC about a "barrage of popping sounds" that he initially thought was a standoff between police and some suspects, realized later it must have been a confrontation between groups. Images of the suspects' car have been circulated by the authorities, soliciting the public's aid in apprehending those responsible for the night's bloodshed.
