In the North Houston area last week, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman's Office was dispatched to a local 7 Eleven on Gessner Road after a report of a suspicious vehicle came in. When law enforcement arrived, the encounter quickly escalated from a benign welfare check to a full-blown chase. Constable deputies reported seeing a vehicle by the creek and a man, who upon noticing the officers, scrambled into his vehicle and took off.

The attempted routine stop turned into a chase as the suspect, identified later as Colby Sims, decided not to comply. His efforts to evade the deputies were ultimately futile. According to a statement on the Constable's official Facebook page, after a short pursuit, a felony stop was conducted and Sims was detained without further incident.

“Colby Sims was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Felony Evading in Motor vehicle. His bond was set at $10,000.00 out of the 180th District Court," said Constable Mark Herman in a Facebook post.

Details on what initially spurred the deputy's suspicion were not disclosed.
