
Early this morning, Oakland firefighters successfully contained and controlled a second-alarm fire in the former Buttercup Restaurant at the intersection of Dennison St and Cotton St. According to the Oakland Fire Department, the fire demanded the closure of the southbound exit of 23rd Avenue for CHP Oakland to facilitate safer and quicker access for the responding crews.

The Oakland Fire Department reported that the fire was successfully controlled by 1:37 AM, with no injuries and no spread to neighboring properties. The department received the initial call about the incident around 12:35 AM and promptly dispatched crews to the scene, as per the Oakland Fire Department.
Firefighting personnel remained on-site for an extended period after extinguishing the main blaze to ensure that all potential hotspots were fully addressed. Their swift response and thorough work helped prevent any further damage, secure the area, and ensure the safety of the surrounding community.
