A violent episode unfolded on the Northeast Side of San Antonio yesterday evening, leaving one man dead and another in the hospital. According to FOX San Antonio, the shooting occurred outside of a La Quinta hotel between Center Park Blvd. and Hitt Drive, prompting an urgent police response around 8:35 p.m. yesterday.
Upon arriving at the chaotic scene, police discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds outside the hotel. A yet-to-be-identified Hispanic male in his 30s, who police say suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the spot. Rushed to SAMMC with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, the second man is currently recovering and talking to law enforcement.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the motive behind the incident, as reported by KSAT. They found a blood trail leading to one of the victims, who eventually collapsed on the ground. The second victim was shot in his arm and possibly other body parts.
Investigators are still piecing together how the series of events unfolded leading up to the shooting. A suspect was detained for further questioning near a local church. "SAPD is investigating how the shooting happened," according to the statement given by the police to KSAT. The condition of the hospitalized victim and further details on the detained suspect remain under examination.
