An unfortunate incident left one person dead after a shooting on a King County Metro bus in Des Moines, as FOX 13 Seattle reported. The violence erupted on Monday afternoon, near Pacific Highway South and South 216th Street, where a fight on the bus escalated, leading to one individual being shot. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, leaving behind witnesses and a victim who succumbed to their injuries later at Harborview Medical Center.
The King County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the shooting took place around 2:20 p.m. along the Rapid Ride A Line. The details of what provoked the altercation are presently under review, as stated in KING 5's report. The responsible party remains at large, with law enforcement actively searching for the shooter.
The King County Sheriff's Office is in the process of identifying the victim and calling for witnesses to come forward. "What I’ve been told is it probably started on the bus, and shots may have been fired on the bus or off the bus," Eric White from the King County Sheriff's Office told KOMO News. Investigators are expected to review surveillance video as part of the ongoing investigation, which may clarify whether the shooting happened aboard the bus or after an altercation that spilled out onto the street.
For those who were present during the incident, authorities urge you to contact the sheriff's office at 206-296-3311. Law enforcement is hoping that surveillance footage will shed light on the incident, and provide leads towards apprehending the individual responsible for this disruption in the common peace.
