An early-morning outbreak of violence in North Sacramento has left one man dead and two other individuals injured, as gunfire erupted in the vicinity of the 1500 block of Orlando Way, near El Camino Avenue, ABC10 reported. The Sacramento Police Department responded to the scene just after 3 a.m. and found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound who, despite attempts at life-saving measures, was declared dead at the location.

Another victim was located near the initial scene presenting with a non-life-threatening injury who was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment, CBS Sacramento disclosed; meanwhile, a third adult victim sought out medical attention on their own terms. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office is expected to release the name of the deceased once his family has been duly informed, and the area now becomes the subject of a homicide investigation led by local detectives, without current leads on a suspect or the motivation for the shooting.

Residents in the affected area were understandably shaken by the event, with one local, Yeli Najera, recounting to ABC10 how she heard "around 20 gunshots" and feared for the safety of the children due to the close proximity of the violence stating, "I was scared because there are kids here, a lot of kids around. I was scared because I thought a bullet could land in the house. Very quickly, I went to check on the kids." Najera expressed her hope that this tragic event would draw more police attention and presence to an area she described as troubled, feeling that the outdoors has become unsafe.

Najera is calling for more police presence to restore a sense of safety. So far, the Sacramento Police Department hasn't shared any updates on the investigation or details about the shooting.
