Early Wednesday morning in Pflugerville, an individual was hospitalized following a severe car crash, according to CBS Austin. The incident occurred in the 3700 block of East Pecan Street, just east of State Highway 130, where firefighters from Pflugerville responded to a vehicle rescue call.
The rescue team found one person pinned inside a significantly damaged vehicle that had veered off the road. Despite the complexity of the situation, firefighters managed to extricate the individual, who was then transported to a local hospital. A second person involved in the crash was also evaluated on the scene, but, refused ambulance transport.
As of now, the status of the hospitalized victim's injuries has not been made public. The Pflugerville Fire Department's efforts were chronicled in a brief but telling post on their Facebook page, which confirmed the incident and the subsequent hospitalization of the trapped occupant.
No cause for the accident has been determined yet, but the scene was telling of its violence. Photos depict the vehicle suffering considerable front-end damage, with the realities of the road laid bare in a shattered windshield, and airbags that had been deployed in an instant but, would never retract to their silent pockets within the steering column. The investigation into what led to this crash is still ongoing.
