Despite their primary role in mosquito control, these employees are tasked with crucial "windshield safety checks," assessing the damage and ensuring that it's secure enough for residents to return home, they do this while conveying unwavering community commitment despite their main role of mosquito control, and, they are vigilant for roadway obstructions, power outages, and structural damages caused by wind or water. In an interview with the Orange County newsroom, Steve Harrison, Manager of the Mosquito Control Division, stated, “We don’t want to send anyone home that doesn’t have electricity or water, or if they have wind or water damage.”
The quick response time of the team is notable, with assessments being completed within four hours, as per Harrison’s report. This expediency is geared towards enabling residents to return to their homes as soon as possible. These employees not only perform safety checks but also deliver supplies and assist with shelter logistics during emergencies.
