
An early morning traffic incident resulted in the loss of a pedestrian's life this past Sunday in North Austin. The Austin Police Department reported that officers were called to the scene of a collision in the 10800 block of North Lamar Boulevard around 2:08 a.m., where they discovered a pedestrian fatally injured. The involved vehicle did not remain on the scene, according to the official report.
Officials have not yet identified the deceased. This incident has marked itself as the city’s 49th fatal crash of the year, cumulatively resulting in 52 fatalities. Comparative to last year, by this date in 2023, 56 fatal crashes were causing 59 fatalities.
The circumstances around the incident are still unclear as the investigation continues. APD's Vehicular Homicide unit leads the inquiries and officials are urging anyone, with information to come forward.
