
The Philadelphia Police Department has issued an urgent call for help in locating Katie Thornton, a 73-year-old woman reported missing since she left her home last Friday night to go food shopping. Thornton's residence, located at 19XX S. 22nd Street in the city's 1st District, was the last known spot she was seen before vanishing. According to the official police blotter release, the disappearance occurred around 9:38 p.m.
Authorities describe Thornton as approximately 5'2" tall, with brown eyes and black hair. During the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a dark gray sweater paired with a navy blue, light blue, and white striped shirt, and light gray sweatpants. A noticeable detail is the navy-blue shopping bag adorned with yellow sunflowers, equipped with two wheels, she was carrying when seen last. The public is being urged by the Philadelphia Police to come forward with any information that could assist in finding Ms. Thornton.
In their efforts to raise awareness, the South Detectives unit in particular has been canvassing the area and reaching out through various means to find the missing woman. The police department has stressed that Katie Thornton is considered endangered and locating her swiftly is critical.
