The aftermath of a deadly altercation on the streets of Phoenix has culminated in the incarceration of one Christopher Rhodd, 36, who now faces a second-degree murder charge. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the arrest stems from an incident that transpired on August 19 near the intersection of 16th Street and Indian School Road around 8:00 p.m., culminating in the death of 34-year-old Efren Partida.
Upon their arrival at the scene, authorities discovered Partida grievously wounded from a stab injury, a wound that eventually claimed his life at a local hospital. Engaged in a verbal dispute gone awry, Christopher Rhodd reportedly walked to the hospital for his stabbing injuries sustained in the fight. After receiving medical treatment, on Friday, Rhodd was taken into custody.
12 News sheds further light on the circumstances leading to the violence, noting that the initial verbal confrontation spiraled into a physical clash near a convenience store. Both men were said to have brandished knives during the altercation.
Following the incident, two additional individuals were detained by police, whose identities remain undisclosed, walking to a local hospital where the knife fight took place. As investigators piece together the sequence of events, the charges against Rhodd represent a dramatic pivot point in what appears to be a swift corrective response by the Phoenix Police Department to the tragic loss of Partida.
The story continues to unfold as more details emerge.
