Peirce County families are set for a weekend of fun as the Sprinker Recreation Center unveils its new range of outdoor features. The center's Aug. 17 celebration stretches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., promising free activities designed for enjoyment across generations.
This enhancement endeavor, which is now coming to fruition, has been guided by the voices of the community - a pivotal chapter in the storied evolution of Sprinker’s landscape. The center is debuting a medley of features, including a regional spray park, a Futsal Court, revamped basketball and tennis courts, multi-purpose synthetic fields, an outdoor fitness zone for adults, and even a connector to the approaching Parkland Community Trail. The event will be marked by a ribbon cutting, with Pierce County Executive Bruce Dammeier and County Councilmember Jani Hitchen alongside Parks Director Roxanne Miles as speakers engaging with residents in festivities that span from free sports clinics to scavenger hunts, and ice skating to bumper cars on the facility's indoor rink.
According to Pierce County Parks, Roxanne Miles expressed her excitement, saying, "We are thrilled to unveil the newly renovated outdoor park space at Sprinker Recreation Center," acknowledging that these additions cater to varied tastes and provide a springboard for both healthful pursuits and collective joy.
Expectations are high for this full-bodied community event, where the Sprinker Recreation Center not only celebrates the new installations but also its enduring commitment to serve as a gathering spot that fosters bonds through leisure, competition, and the shared spirit of Parkland community’s verve all under a summer sky punctuated by laughter and the cadence of active life.
