A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place over two years ago was arrested after a deputy on patrol spotted the suspect's vehicle near Safeway at Canyon Rd E and 176th St E. The original incident, which resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man at the Nantucket Gate Apartments in Parkland, occurred on May 21, 2022. In what was a culmination of a lengthy investigation, the individual, now 20 years old, was detained as a front passenger during a traffic stop implemented by deputies on Tuesday.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, upon the vehicle yielding, deputies initiated a felony stop, conducting the arrest without further incident. The suspect was taken into custody and will face charges for the Manslaughter Warrant issued about the 2022 homicide. A rear-seat passenger, identified as a convicted felon, was also arrested after deputies noticed ammunition magazines for 9mm handguns inside the vehicle.
Following the stop, deputies made plans to execute a search warrant on the vehicle to seize the ammunition magazines and to search for any firearms that may be connected to the individuals. The rear passenger was booked for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, adding to the day's proactive enforcement action.
