Pierce County law enforcement officers have recently participated in intensive active shooter response training, as reported by the official Pierce County Sheriff's Department. The training, which spanned over a full week, was conducted at Sumner High School and saw the involvement of several deputies and officers from across the county.
The Homeland Security's Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) provided the expertise, aiming to not only thoroughly teach but also ideally prepare these first responders for the terrifying possibility of an active shooter scenario. The program included both medical aid and tactical response drills, focusing on equipping officers with the necessary skills to safeguard and aid the community effectively in times of crisis.
Reflecting on the week-long endeavor, gratitude was expressed towards the instructors from FLETC and Homeland Security for their commitment to law enforcement preparedness. "Thank you to FLETC and Homeland Security for an exceptional training that will help our law enforcement be prepared for any of these nightmare scenarios," a statement from the sheriff's department noted.
