In a recent update, Pittsburgh police have arrested 47-year-old Angus Sanders following a shooting incident in Brighton Heights that left an elderly man in critical condition. Sanders faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault and Carrying a Firearm Without a License, as per the Pittsburgh official police blotter.
The initial report detailed a rapid police response to a ShotSpotter alert indicating 13 rounds fired on Goe Ave. at Brighton Rd. and an officer in the vicinity quickly located a victim, a male in his early 70s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, emergency medical services promptly transported the victim to the hospital where he remains in a critical state, what further complicates the matter, there is currently no evidence suggesting any prior relationship between the shooter and the victim.
During Sanders' arrest, a taser was employed leading to his subsequent hospital evaluation before being taken into custody, a firearm was also recovered at the scene. The Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit detectives are presently leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this violent encounter, with evidence processing at the scene conducted by the Mobile Crime Unit.
