Gunfire interrupted the daily bustle at a local Pittsburgh market yesterday, resulting in a dramatic encounter between a security guard and a belligerent customer. Pittsburgh Police were called to the 1100 block of Highwood Street after a security guard at Kuhn's Market was forced to take aggressive measures when facing a potentially armed individual, as reported by the Pittsburgh Public Safety blotter.

According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety blotter, the incident unfolded shortly before 2 p.m. when the security guard, who has been with the store for years, escorted a male out of the store for being verbally abusive to staff. Outside, the situation escalated when the male allegedly manipulated a firearm under the seat of his vehicle. A verbal confrontation ensued, and it turned physical, leading the security guard to fear for his safety.

"The male then exited the vehicle and engaged in a verbal altercation with the security guard. The security guard, who feared the male was armed, drew his firearm," detailed the blotter report. During the tussle, when the guard believed his life was in immediate danger as the male grabbed the gun, he discharged a single round. He afterward employed a less lethal pepper gun to subdue the threatening individual.

Following the scuffle, the man disappeared in a light green Subaru hatchback, accompanied by a female passenger. The authorities searched the car and individuals involved but came up empty-handed. The Mobile Crime Unit was later seen processing evidence at the scene. The ongoing investigation as to the identity and whereabouts of the aggressive individual continues.
