High-visibility patrols were active in Pittsburgh's Central Business District throughout the week of August 19-25, keeping an eye on the bustling downtown and its daily churn. According to stats released by the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department and published on the department's Public Safety Blotter, officers took to the streets with a deliberate focus on enforcement, resulting in a total of six arrests and numerous citations in the area.
In the midst of their routine, officers from the Downtown High-Visibility Patrol racked up 40 non-traffic citations, and a pair of parking tickets, and issued a sole warrant/summons request. Interestingly, despite the navigational hazards of Pittsburgh's grid, not a single traffic stop was conducted, nor were any traffic citations given.
On a broader scale, the Traffic and K9 divisions zeroed in on parking violators, doling out 80 parking citations. Traffic movement was also scrutinized, leading to a trinity of tows and seven traffic citations, an effort likely contributing to smoother transits and less congested byways.
