Big news for the future of two exceptional young scholars, the daughters of Police Legal Advisor Leyko and Officer Evans who were awarded scholarships during the Police Department Appreciation Luncheon. This event, championed by the Consulate of the Republic of Korea and the Korean American Association of Dallas (KAAD), honored these two recipients as they prepare to head to College Station for their studies at Texas A&M University, according to the Plano Texas Police Department.
In what was surely a feel-good moment for local law enforcement, the ceremony highlighted the contributions of Korean American organizations toward the cause of education, with the Korean American Development and Advancement Foundation, the Korean Intermarriage Women’s Association, and the Korean Women’s Association of North Texas, pooling resources to support these scholarships. As noted by the Plano Texas Police Department, several other police department employees’ children from Carrolton PD, Coppell PD, Dallas PD, Frisco PD, Irving PD, and Lewisville PD also received these honors.
