A Ponsford man is facing serious charges after being indicted for the sexual abuse of a minor on the White Earth Indian Reservation, as U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced recently. Joseph Schultz, 42, is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a minor under the age of 12, with the alleged abuse reported to have occurred between October 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, as detailed by the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Minnesota.
Schultz's indictment includes one count of aggravated sexual abuse and one count of abusive sexual contact, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Minnesota.
Made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court today, Schultz stood before Magistrate Judge Jon T. Huseby. This case, as per the press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, stems from the collaborative efforts of the FBI and the White Earth Tribal Police Department which conducted the analysis.
While an indictment signifies a formal charge, it is crucial to remember that it does not equate to a conviction, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
