Honolulu's senior living got a significant boost with the $5 million makeover of The Plaza at Punchbowl, an event that was on full exhibit for the local community yesterday. As reported by KHON2, the renovation marks a transformative juncture for the facility, enhancing not just its aesthetics but fundamentally reshaping its approach to elder care through what they’ve termed The Plaza Life Protocol.
This recent open house revealed an array of upgrades, guests enjoyed gourmet food, refreshments, and even a live sushi station while complimentary massages were being offered in the newly minted zen garden, and visitors were serenaded by the soothing strains of live music. The refurbished Plaza didn't skimp on cultural enrichment either, the Japanese-style garden and tea house standing as a serene testament to thoughtful and restorative design.
Emphasized during the celebration, the leadership behind the renovations were on hand with Chief Operating Officer Tricia Medeiros and Administrator Cherie Andrade discussing the project's finer points; Medeiros was cited in The Star-Advertiser highlighting the new program’s focus on the holistic welfare of its residents, aiming to touch on crucial aspects such as exercise, nutrition, stress reduction, and hydration.
Free to the public, with RSVPs encouraged, the event was not just a showcase but an open invitation, a harbinger of the caring and community-oriented atmosphere The Plaza seeks to cultivate. For those who missed the initial fanfare, shuttle services were provided to ease attendance, ensuring that all who wished to catch a glimpse of the facility’s future were able to do so with little to no hassle, and parking concerns were quelled by provisions made at the nearby Neil Blaisdell Center—contributing to an event that was as much about community integration as it was the unveiling of a revised living space for seniors.
