A 5-year-old dog named King, who had been suffering from a substantial 7-pound tumor on his face, is now celebrating being in a loving home. According to FOX 13 News, King was taken in by the Humane Society of Pinellas on June 18 from a transfer shelter and, shortly after his arrival, underwent surgery to remove the growth.
The Humane Society's veterinary team successfully removed a benign mass from King and set up a fundraiser to support his recovery. During his recovery, King met a construction worker at the Humane Society's new adoption center, who later decided to foster him during a tropical storm, as per KLTV.
The adoption story took off on social media too, with the shelter posting joyful updates, one of which was shared by WFLA. On Facebook, the Humane Society announced, "Congrats to King and his furever family! We are so happy for him!"
King's new owner, whose name has not been released, first fostered him as a temporary safe haven from inclement weather but chose to quickly adopt him when he recognized a companionship that they both needed and deserved.
