Pop superstar Rihanna's entrance into the brick-and-mortar retail sphere continues with the opening of Michigan's first Savage X Fenty store in downtown Detroit. Launching this Friday, the store located at 1442 Woodward, owned by Bedrock, will offer an array of lingerie, loungewear, and pajamas from XS to 4X sizes, reported the Detroit News.

The brand, which promotes inclusivity and confidence, will begin its celebration at 10 a.m. and features a DJ, light refreshments, and giveaways. In a statement obtained by the Metro Times, Vanessa Wallace, the company's Chief Marketing Officer, said: "Through accessibility and convenience, we want to ensure that Savage X Fenty’s customers can shop and explore the brand on their own terms." The opening is conveniently timed with the Detroit Jazz Festival, which is also slated to draw a significant crowd to the downtown area.

The Savage X Fenty store takes its place among other well-known retail outlets such as H&M, Nike, and Lululemon, enhancing the downtown Detroit shopping experience. Ivy Greaner, Bedrock's COO, articulated the strategic partnership, noting in comments to the Detroit News, “The addition of Savage X Fenty to the Bedrock portfolio is an important step in our ongoing mission to cultivate a vibrant downtown for Detroit residents and visitors, full of destination shopping, dining and entertainment experiences."

The store's opening was originally projected for 2023 but had been pushed to 2024. The new Detroit location is the third to embody a fresh rebranding concept for the company. With plans to expand to a total of 14 stores across the U.S. by year's end, Savage X Fenty's physical retail strategy aligns with its overarching brand ethos — a commitment to championing inclusivity and convenience for its consumers, as per remarks by Wallace quoted by the Metro Times. Greaner highlighted Detroit's cultural, artistic, and innovative spirit as aligning perfectly with Savage X Fenty's brand identity.

Meanwhile, Bedrock Detroit noted in a post shared on social media site X that the celebration will include special giveaways and a live DJ set. The Detroit Free Press further explained that this retail space, first announced in 2022, is set to broaden the shopping experience for Detroiters with its inclusively-sized and diverse selection of intimate apparel.
