A teacher employed by Round Rock Independent School District is facing allegations of indecency with a child and possession of child pornography, according to court documents. Domingo Perez, the person accused, has been slapped with charges that include indecency with a child by sexual contact and possession of child pornography, with bonds set at $50,000 and $75,000 respectively, CBS Austin reported.

The charges arise from an incident that dates back to April 21, 2023, when Perez allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a minor. According to an affidavit from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, which was notified of the allegations, the teacher who has been in the employ of the district since the 2005-2006 school year, resides in Taylor. He was immediately placed on leave by the RRISD after the district learned of the investigation in July, as the school year was ending—for a teacher, charged with such a heinous act, who hadn't been present on campus since, as KXAN states.

The allegations were brought forward when the victim, who was a 16-year-old student at Stony Point High School at the time, reached out to the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division in June about the incidents which reportedly began in February 2023 and continued into the summer, as per court records outlined by KXAN. Perez’s home, where investigators retrieved his phone containing messages also seen on the victim’s phone, was subjected to a search warrant.

Currently, Perez is booked in Williamson County Jail, with a total bond set at $125,000. The district, while cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation, has not had Perez on campus since last school year ended, a spokesperson assured – in a heart left with the trust shattered by an educator meant to safeguard it, as the RRISD administration found themselves grappling with the grim revelations of the alleged acts of Perez, according to a statement obtained by CBS Austin.
