Route 40, also known as National Pike, is now back in action. According to a PennDOT District 12 report, the previously closed stretch between Route 43 (Mon-Fayette Expressway) and Route 88 (California Road)/Blaine Hill Road) has reopened after a bridge strike incident.
While the major hurdle may have been cleared on Route 40, drivers heading onto Route 2079 (Knob Road) should still keep their guard up. Struck by the opening on Route 40, a single-lane restriction greets motorists stretching from Wilson Road to Old National Pike. Officials are urging those passing through to maintain a heightened sense of caution.
Those hitting the overpass on Route 2079 will meet a slower pace, PennDOT hasn't provided a timeline for when the single-lane restriction will lift. Visit PennDOT for the latest update on traffic conditions.
