
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is intensifying efforts to locate a suspect implicated in a near-fatal shooting that occurred at the intersection of Majolica Road and Sherrills Ford Road, as confirmed by WXII 12. Investigators report that on July 31, around 11:30 p.m., the victim was followed from Lakewood Apartments by a suspect driving a stolen red Hyundai Sonata, subsequently firing shots which resulted in the victim being struck in the head. The victim, undergoing recovery sustained serious injuries, deputies say. The arson-involved suspect vehicle was later found abandoned and burning on East Monroe Street in the early hours of August 2.
Shortly after the initial incident, yet another shooting took place on the 2500 block of Airport Road in Rowan County. As described by deputies, the suspect appears to be a tall white male, dressed in black shorts, a black hoodie, black ski mask, and white Nike sneakers, who was previously seen on Miller Chapel Road as per QC News. Details on the timing of the shooting have not been disclosed, while the investigation continues in pursuit of the assailant.
Authorities have circulated a photograph of the suspect, urging the public to aid in the capture by contacting 911 with any pertinent information. The Rowan County Sheriff's Office has cautioned residents against approaching the suspect directly, though they do not believe there is an active threat to the public at large. Investigative efforts are ongoing to gather more details on the condition of the shooting victim.
