
A man from Sacaton has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for a violent attack involving an axe and a knife. He Tehila Brave Heart, originally from Pine Ridge, South Dakota, but residing in Sacaton at the time of the incident, was given a 10-year prison term by United States District Judge Dominic W. Lanza. Following his prison sentence, Brave Heart will also be subjected to three years of supervised release, as per a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Arizona.
Last year, on April 4, Brave Heart and his wife, Jacqulyn Brave Heart, were involved in a severe altercation where they beat two individuals and threatened to end their lives. The melee escalated when Brave Heart proceeded to stab one of the victims in the neck and brutally strike her head with an axe. On April 22, Brave Heart pleaded guilty to charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Jacqulyn Brave Heart, as well, was sentenced to six years in prison after entering a guilty plea on January 22, for the same offenses.
The grim details of the case emerged from the conducted investigations by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Gila River Police Department. Handling the prosecution was Assistant U.S. Attorney Raynette Logan, who operates out of Phoenix in the District of Arizona.
He Tehila Brave Heart, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, now faces a substantial period of imprisonment, reflecting the severity of the crimes committed. In the statement obtained by the U.S. Attorney's Office, the conclusion of this case marks the close of a chapter that has indubitably left deep scars on the victims and ripple effects in the Sacaton community.
