A Sacramento man has been arrested following a series of violent attacks including a case of domestic violence and a severe stabbing. The suspect, Robert Zimbelman, 34, allegedly choked his girlfriend multiple times before being involved in a stabbing at a gas station in the Arden-Arcade area, as reported by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office official Facebook page.

The chain of events began with a domestic violence report at approximately 10:30 p.m. last Wednesday. Deputies responded to the initial call, where the reported victim was found to be choked and already sent to the hospital. Investigators pinpointed Zimbelman as the suspect not only in this incident, but also in a subsequent stabbing that took place shortly after midnight on Thursday. According to the report, the stabbing victim, discovered at a gas station on the 3400 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard, suffered severe injuries but is expected to survive.

Law enforcement officials initiated a search for Zimbelman, issuing a description of his vehicle to neighboring agencies. The Fairfield Police Department located the suspect during the early hours on Thursday, which led to a vehicle pursuit with both Fairfield PD and California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers involved. Eventually, Zimbelman crashed his car near Jefferson Boulevard and Highway 50, in Yolo County, fled on foot and threatened to take his own life on an overpass. Crisis negotiators from the CHP managed to convince him to surrender without further incident.

Following a brief medical evaluation, Zimbelman was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail. He faces multiple felony charges and, the bail is set at $150,000. His court appearance is scheduled for August 19. No other individuals were reportedly harmed during the chase or standoff.
