San Antonio residents are facing a heat wave that's not letting up anytime soon, with forecasts predicting temperatures to soar past the century mark in the coming days. According to the National Weather Service, today's partly sunny skies won't offer much reprieve as the heat index is expected to hit a sweltering 104 degrees, while a south southeast wind will blow at a mild 5 to 10 mph. Tonight, the mercury is set to only dip to around 78 degrees, providing minimal nighttime cooling for the city's inhabitants.
Thursday's sunrise brings with it the promise of more scorching heat. As the forecast suggests sunny skies and high temperatures hovering around the 100-degree threshold, residents should prepare for heat index values to potentially reach 105 degrees, with the south wind continuing at a similar pace as the day prior. The evening will offer a nominal respite, with temperatures only slightly falling to a low of around 79 degrees and the wind maintaining with potential gusts as high as 20 mph.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the pattern of searing heat only intensifies. Friday through Sunday, the weather is set to blaze, with highs consistently breaking past 100 degrees. The wind will remain relatively calm, shifting direction slightly but doing little to cool the city. Nighttime conditions offer little in the way of relief, with temperatures expected to linger in the high 70s.
By the time Monday arrives, the city temperature is predicted to ascend further, reaching a possible high of 103 degrees. Tuesday will continue the trend with a high near 104 degrees and skies remaining clear.
