The Parks and Recreation Department is extending the pool season for seven outdoor pools, as announced recently. Starting the week of Monday, August 12, through Sunday, September 15, public pools will remain open on the weekends for everyone's enjoyment, according to the official city announcement.
Amid high temperatures that show no signs of waning, the extended hours offer welcome respite and a chance to cool down; in addition to the pool time, the City's seven splash pads will be open daily from 9 am to 9 pm through October, ensuring there are plenty of options to beat the heat. The Woodlawn Lake Pool will continue to host morning lap swim sessions and aqua fitness classes during the weekdays, those interested in structured swimming activities have you covered.
Furthermore, a partnership between Parks and Recreation and Southwest ISD Aquatic Center is introducing Community Swim Days. This collaboration is set to provide additional opportunities for community members to enjoy time in the water, benefitting from the Aquatic Center's facilities on designated days.
