According to KENS 5, the blaze was reported at around 9:20 a.m., with crews arriving to find smoke billowing from the rooftop. The intensity of the flames forced the firefighters to initially engage, then swiftly retreat and fully fight from the exterior to avoid potential collapse and injury. It took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, followed by efforts to extinguish lingering hot spots.
The extent of the damage was such that the house was deemed a total loss. Regrettably, family pets were reported to be inside at the time of the fire. "The homeowner was reportedly out of town," stated an official on the scene, and "family members told them cats were inside the home, but they were not able to save them," as reported by KENS 5. Thankfully, no human injuries were reported.
