San Antonio International Airport (SAT) notched another record in its belt, experiencing the busiest month yet this past July. A report released reveals that over 1 million passengers, to be precise 1,032,610, traveled through SAT, surpassing the previous record set in July last year. Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports for the City of San Antonio's Aviation Department, highlighted the consistent upward trajectory in a statement obtained by SA Gov News, stating, "We're continuing to see record-breaking passenger levels at SAT."
According to the same source, the trend is fortified by consecutive record-breaking figures since May 2023. In embellishing the city's rising status as a travel hub, several carriers increased their seat offerings to San Antonio in July, inclusive of Spirit Airlines and Southwest Airlines, as well as Delta Air Lines, among others.
The airport isn't just basking in its recent triumph; it's poised for growth with new routes on the horizon. Spirit Airlines recently inaugurated a twice-daily nonstop to Dallas-Fort Worth, complementing existing services by other airlines. The data from the airport shows these additions as a response to a growing clientele, a boon for local travelers seeking more direct routes. United and Delta are prepped to introduce additional San Francisco and Boston nonstops, respectively, come this fall.
As holiday plans loom on the horizon, Southwest Airlines is prepped to reintroduce seasonal flights to Colorado Springs, perfectly timed for skiers. Viva Aerobus, on another hand, is slated to commence services to Guadalajara, expanding options for travel into Mexico.
