
The San Antonio community is mourning the loss of a man who was more than just an Uber driver, but a cherished local figure. Robert "Bobby" Renteria, 62, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday after being caught in a violent exchange of gunfire, as per News 4 San Antonio. The incident, which occurred early Monday morning, left Renteria fatally wounded after he was shot in the back upon picking up a passenger involved in the shooting.
Details about the tragic situation came to light courtesy of the San Antonio Police Department, who believe an altercation unfolded between Renteria's passenger and, an unidentified shooter – where the passenger returned fire. The confrontation took place near Anchor Drive and Lockhill Selma, where officers, upon arrival found only Renteria with a gunshot wound seated in the front of his vehicle. The medical examiner's office, still has not declared an official cause and manner of death.
As police continue their search for both the passenger and any additional subjects involved, the administration at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School took to the internet to honor Renteria's memory. In a statement via FOX San Antonio, the school described him as an "active cheerleader for our school community." Renteria was prominently involved in the annual Haunted House at the school's Día de los Bulldogs, or Halloween Carnival, touching many lives with his involvement.

This investigation is ongoing, and police are determined, to discover the full circumstances surrounding Renteria's death and bring those responsible to justice.
