A San Francisco man has been convicted on multiple charges of rape and domestic violence, according to an announcement made by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Amit Rindhe, 37, faced a jury trial that resulted in ten convictions, including seven counts of rape by force, two counts of making criminal threats, and one count of domestic violence.

In a public statement, District Attorney Brooke Jenkins highlighted the jury's role in delivering justice and the survivor's courage. "I would like to thank the jury for their service in this case and holding Mr. Rindhe accountable for his crimes," Jenkins said. She commended the survivor's bravery and expressed her hope that the verdict would contribute to the healing process after enduring sustained trauma and abuse.

The evidence presented at trial revealed a pattern of abusive behavior by Rindhe beginning in 2022. Court records show he threatened to shoot and kill his victim during a confrontation in October of that year. This was followed by physical assault and then rape. Rindhe's behavior reportedly followed a cycle of abuse, with repeated instances of violence, alternated with apologies and promises to make amends, including therapy.

Assistant District Attorney Christina Mickels, who successfully prosecuted the case, praised the victim's resilience and the jury's diligence. "I also want to applaud the victim for her bravery," Mickels stated in a press release from the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She emphasized that those in similar situations should seek help and document abuses as evidence of their experiences, reassuring survivors that support systems are in place, even when they may feel isolated.

Rindhe is in custody and awaiting sentencing, scheduled for September 10. In the interim, the District Attorney's Office has encouraged those facing domestic violence to reach out for support, providing a list of resources for assistance. These include the National Domestic Violence Hotline, WOMAN, Inc., and several other organizations dedicated to assisting victims of domestic abuse. In immediate danger, individuals are urged to call 9-1-1 for emergency services.
