San Francisco Police made a significant dent in Tenderloin's drug trade with the arrest of two alleged narcotics dealers. In a surveillance operation carried out by plainclothes officers from the Tenderloin station, Jason Bell, 39, and Ibtihaj Hammond, 46, were apprehended after being observed actively selling suspected drugs from a vehicle on the 100 block of Eddy Street. The official report, posted by the San Francisco Police Department, details the event that transpired on Sunday at approximately 3:41 p.m.
The investigation led the officers to develop probable cause quickly and promptly arrest both Bell and Hammond. Crucially, this intervention allowed police to also seize over 28 grams of suspected base rock cocaine and more than five thousand dollars in U.S. currency. According to the SFPD announcement, the suspects were subsequently booked into San Francisco County jail on charges of possession of cocaine base for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, and criminal conspiracy.
While the recent arrests mark a momentary victory for law enforcement, the investigation remains open and active. The San Francisco Police urge anyone with further information to come forward and assist by contacting them at 1-415-575-4444 or by sending an anonymous tip to TIP411, initiating the message with 'SFPD.'
