According to the San José Police Department, the fatal collision occurred yesterday when a 2006 Chevy pickup truck hit a 12-year-old boy at the intersection of Leigh Avenue and Camden Avenue.
The driver of the Chevy was proceeding westbound on Camden Avenue with a green light when the incident occurred near a marked crosswalk. The juvenile was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses and individuals with information are encouraged to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Remaining at the scene, the driver cooperated fully with authorities as investigators worked to piece together the circumstances that led to the event. This incident marks not only the 30th traffic death in San José this year but also the 11th pedestrian fatality, highlighting a pervasive threat to pedestrian safety in the city.
